This area will, over time, contain a large selection of digital pictures of the immediate San Francisco Bay Area and wherever we go on vacation. Joan got a digital camera (Canon PowerShot S30) late last year, and that's what we'll use. Each directory contains pictures taken on the indicated date, and once we get the 256MB CompactFlash card installed (it came with a measly 16MB card that's only good for about 16 pictures), we'll have a slew of (hopefully revealing and interesting) pictures for you. Hopefully, with time, the pictures will give you a fairly good idea of what the San Francisco Bay Area is like, architecturally, culturally, and socioeconomically and that you enjoy them.
Note, though, that because the connection is ADSL your downloads will be somewhat slow, because the upstream speed (which you'll be experiencing) is limited to 128Kbps. The pictures have now been optimized for display on the web, so that helps a bit. The pictures are best viewed at a resolution of 800x600.
Note further, that Joan's pictures are not displayed on this site. Any picture with her is posted to a site that requires authentication. You can access that site here
